Family Tree Lite is a FamilySearch application that was originally designed for feature phones (phones with small screens and very limited capabilities). Because nearly all users now access the FamilySearch Family Tree on more advanced phones and other devices, FamilySearch has made the decision to retire the Family Tree Lite application. If you’ve used Family Tree Lite in the past, we invite you to continue your family history journey on FamilySearch.org/tree or through the Family Tree app, both of which can be used on most mobile devices.
Although Family Tree Lite has been retired, all information originally entered through it is still available in the FamilySearch Family Tree. The desktop and mobile versions of the Family Tree include additional features that weren’t available to users of the Lite app. In particular, mobile users should note that the Android version of the Family Tree app has been through many improvements over the years and has been significantly restructured to have a much smaller initial download size of 30MB, less than a third of its original size.
