RootsTech is a 3-day event that will take place February 29–March 2, 2024 in Salt Lake City, Utah. For people who cannot attend RootsTech in person, they will still be able to participate in the conference online!

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints collaborates with this annual RootsTech event to encourage members to discover more about who they are, find family stories, and preserve their own memories for posterity. This year is no different—come see what RootsTech has in store for you!

Family Discovery Day

Take part in a full day of free family activities, games, and inspiration at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday March 2, 2024! Remember, connect, and experience the impact of family with your friends and family.

For those attending RootsTech in-person or online, you will have the experience of watching a never-before-seen film of the late President M. Russell Ballard. President Ballard was the Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 2018 until his death in 2023.

This film was produced in 2023, and it provides an inspirational message as President Ballard recounts his own family story and pioneer heritage.

Celebrating Lives, Connecting Stories, Discovering Identity

Discovering more about who you are and where you come from leads to a fulfilling, joyful life. RootsTech is a wonderful tool for those who are seeking this knowledge. Throughout the 3-day conference, RootsTech will offer a range of classes in family history, from beginner classes to more advanced tracks.

This year, there is also a track specific for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. These classes will teach real-time, current ways to discover family and take names to the temple.

Watch classes online, or come in person to RootsTech to strengthen your mental and spiritual self and create stronger bonds within your family.

Temple and Family History Leadership Instruction

The new Temple and Family History Leadership Instruction will be available beginning February 29, 2024. This instruction will provide counsel on how to draw closer to our families and to our Savior through temple covenants and ordinances, as well as how to help new Church members have positive experiences in the temple.

Elder Neil L. Andersen, Elder Gerrit W. Gong, Sister Susan H. Porter, Sister Kristin M. Yee, Elder Kevin R. Duncan, and Elder Kevin S. Hamilton

The leadership instruction will be lead by Elder Neil L. Andersen and Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Other General Authorities and General Officers of the Church will be there, including Sister Susan H. Porter, Sister Kristin M. Yee, Elder Kevin R. Duncan, and Elder Kevin S. Hamilton.

All members of the Church are invited to tune in to this year's leadership instruction, especially those with callings that support temple and family history efforts.

Viewing this session within councils is a great way to facilitate organic discussion and conversation surrounding this topic and local needs. A discussion guide to go along with the leadership instruction will be provided to ward leaders. This guide will be available in 23 languages.

This is an amazing opportunity for learning and growth within stakes and wards! The session will be accessible on the Gospel Library app and on rootstech.org.
