Antecedentia | Genealogy in the Netherlands

John Boeren, LLM, PGCert, PLCGS

John is one of few full-time genealogy professionals in the Netherlands and has 35+ years of experience. He started his business, called ‘Antecedentia | Genealogy in the Netherlands,’ in January 2015. Services include genealogical and research, transcriptions and translations of documents, heritage trips, advice and mentoring, lectures and courses. He studied at Tilburg University and at the School for Archivists in The Hague, Netherlands. He is a graduate of the National Institute for Genealogical Studies (Professional Development Certificate, English Records Certificate) and is currently enrolled in the Strathclyde program to obtain a Master degree in Genealogical, Paleographic and Heraldic Studies. He is a board member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG). International magazines such as Family Tree Magazine UK, Family Tree Magazine US and the In-Depth Genealogist published his articles. He is also the author of Legacy’s QuickGuide on Dutch genealogy. Since he became a full-time genealogist in October 2018 he has given presentations for international audiences, both virtual and in-person, including RootsTech Salt Lake City, RootsTech London, Ontario Ancestors Conference, THE Genealogy Show, APG Professional Management Conference and New York State Family History Conference.
