Books B & C of the Cahokia record books have been given a separate description from Book A, which is on the same roll of film, because of differences in jurisdiction.

These mss. represent vols. 4-5 of the Raymond H. Hammes Collection.

"All entries pertain to St. Clair County as it existed in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries and to the inhabitants of the villages then within its borders: Cahokia, the county seat, Prairie de [sic] Pont, Harrison, Prairie du Chien, Peoria, Michillimackinac, and Bellefontaine"--Bk. B, foreword, 1st prelim. page.

Prairie du Chien, however, was & is in present-day Crawford County, Wisconsin. Michillimackinac was probably in present-day Sangamon County. The exact location of Harrison is not certain. St. Clair County took up most of the Illinois Territory in 1810.

Both books B and C include historical documents and transcriptions. Book B includes a historical chronology of events, 1671-1818.

Includes general indexes with each book. (The "A" and part of the "B" section [1 p.] for Book C has been placed after p. 135.).
