Oscar Franklin Curtis was born in 1905 at St. Louis, Missouri, the son of James Benjamin and Lucinda B. Logan Curtis. He married Opal Elizabeth Oller (1912-1977), daughter of Charles Oller (1880- 1965) and Viola Weathers Oller (1891-1947) in 1932 at Carlinville, Illinois. They had five children, 1932-1946, born at Morrisonville five children, 1932-1946, born at Morrisonville and Taylorville, and Taylorville, Illinois. He served thirty years in the U.S. Navy and was in administration at Indiana University for ten years. His father, James Benjamin Curtis, was born in 1882 at Lecoma, Missouri, son of Lorenzo Benjamin Curtis (1845-1912) and Esther Naomi Campbell Curtis (1852-1940). He married Lucinda B. Logan (d. 1915), daughter of George Lewis and Rachel Milbra Hale Logan in 1905. They had an adopted son, born in 1897, and six children, born 1905-1915, the last still born. After her death he married two more times. He died in 1968 at St. Louis, Missouri.
