Robert Getty (1780-1942) was born at Maydown, County Derry, Ireland. Margaret Wilmot (1789-1873) was born at Annapolis, Maryland. They were married at Annapolis in 1808. They had thirteen children, 1809-1832, born at Georgetown, District of Columbia. Robert and Margaret Getty died at Georgetown. .
