James Agee Smith (1787-1875) was born in Sullivan County, Tennessee, the son of George Thomas Smith (1741-1834) and Lear or Leah Agree Smith (between 1751 &1755-1815). He married Margaret Love Stevens (1790-1865), a widow with one son, in 1810 in Sullivan or Smith County, Tennessee. They had nine children, 1810-ca. 1830. They joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1840-1842. The family migrated to Nauvoo, Illinois, in 1844 and west to Utah with the Latter-day Saint pioneers in 1849. Margaret Love Smith died at Washington, Washington County, Utah. James Agee Smith died at Pahreah, Kane County, Utah and was buried at Washington, Utah.
