"The initial listing of names came from the identification of veterans . . . many different sources. [cont. in next note].

"After making the initial listing, it was pointed out that we had overlooked some names found in 6 volumes in the County Clerks Office in the court house. . . . Most of the records in the court house pertained to World War II and Vietnam periods, but there were a few records for the Civil War, Spanish American War and World War I periods. [cont. in next note].

"It occurred to us that some names were missing from the compilation up to this point. The nine township books of cemetery inventories included a number of these missing names. We reviewed the book of cemetery inventories and extracted the information on veterans. . . . [cont. in next note].

"Just as we thought we had compiled as complete a listing as possible from all sources available to us, the "Vienna Times" published a special section . . . . We decided to include these names also"-Foreword, 1st prelim. p.
