Carl Bigham Shipp (1891-1981) was born at Ogden, Utah, the son of James Edward Shipp (1852-1899) and May Lucinda Bingham Shipp (1865-1950). He married Anna M. Newton in 1914 in the Salt Lake Temple. They had six children, 1915-1936. The family lived in the Schenectady, New York area from 1916 to 1923, then returned to Salt Lake City. Annie (Anna) May Newton (1893-1979) was born at Manti, Utah, the daughter of Frederick Burton Newton (1864-1944) and Ingeborg Diantha Olsen Newton (1869-1941). Carl and Anna Shipp died in Salt Lake City.

Ancestors include: Richard Shipp (1768-1836) of Culpepper County, Virginia, Kentucky and Johnson County, Indiana. His father was Richard Shipp, a Revolutionary War soldier -- Erastus Bingham (1798-1882), a Latter-day Saint pioneer, of Vermont, New Hampshire, Illinois, and Utah -- Rasmus Olsen (1806-1888), a Latter-day Saint pioneer, of Skovhuse and Selandveile, Denmark and Utah -- Frederick Burton Newton (1864-1944) of Leeds, England; and Manti and Ogden, Utah.
