Records are arranged in order from the most recent to the earliest. The numbering of the records is difficult to understand and generally each record shows two numbers (one for the particular case, and one which represents the numerical accumulation to date).

Pierce Brothers Mortuary has acquired many independant mortuaries or funeral homes in the greater Los Angeles area. It is not easy to follow the date of acquisition or the occurance of name change in the volumes of records. Volumes do not always list the name of the mortuary either on the binding or on the individual records. They all are known as (ie:) Pierce Brothers Larkin Mortuary, (etc.).

Includes records of Pierce Brothers Larkin, Turner, Orange, San Gabriel, Arcadia, Simone Dubois, etc., mortuaries.

Records generally show name of deceased, age, occupation, address, date and place of death, cause of death, spouse or parents, date and place of birth, nativity of parents, date and place of funeral and burial, etc.
