Military records of the British Army, 1914-1920

This set of records is known as the third collation. It was created by the Ministry of Defense. It is made up of misplaced records which could not be returned to their correct location and of many military records of service which were returned to the Ministry of Defense from those government departments responsible for the granting of pensions and benefits.

Contains service files of soldiers who were discharged from the British Army from 1914-1920. The files are organized alphabetically by surname and given name. The soldiers may have enlisted as early as the 1890s. Includes unit name and number, birthplace, age of time of enlistment, and name and address of next of kin. May also include names of parents, spouses, and children. May note occupation prior to military service and assignments in the army. Includes date of discharge and reason for discharge. Medical records, awards, etc. may also be included.
