John Crutchett (1730-1782) was born at Withycombe, Devonshire, England, the son of John Crutchett (ca. 1700-1752). He married Ann Palfrey in 1755 at Withycombe. They had eight children. Record traces some male lines of their sons, James Crutchett (b. 1764) and Thomas Crutchett (1767-after 1851), to ca. 1949. Descendants listed lived in Devonshire, Cornwall, Glamorganshire, South Australia, West Australia, California, South Dakota and elsewhere in England, Wales, Australia and the United States.

Charles Crutchett was born at Tiverton, Devonshire, England, ca. 1790. He was in the British Army and after serving in the Napoleonic Wars, he was stationed in Ireland. He married Jane Howard of Tipperary at Templemore in 1811. Descendants listed, following some male lines only, lived in Ireland, Australia, England, and the United States.
