Chiefly, a record of ten generations of descendants of Samuel Jourdan who was born in France. He sailed from England on June 2, 1609 and arrived in Jamestown, Virginia and established a plantation called Jordan's Journey. He was later elected from Charles City as a representative to the House of Burgesses. He was a representative at the first representative assembly in the New World being elected July 30, 1619 at Jamestown, Virginia. He was married twice during his life. With his first wife, he had one son Thomas Jordan (1600-ca. 1644). With his second wife, Cecilly Green, he had two daughters, Mary Jordan (ca. 1595-ca. 1630) and Margaret Jordan (b. 1620). Mary Jordan married Nathaniel Basse on May 21, 1613 in England. Nathaniel was the son of Humphrey Basse and Mary Buschier. Descendants lived in Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, Arkansas and elsewhere.
