Samuel Shannon McCampbell (1842-1930) was born at Beverly, Knox County, Tennessee, the youngest child of Benjamin Bennett McCampbell (1803- 1866) and Margaret Anderson McCampbell (1799-1870). Sarah Prudence Smith (1845-1932) was born at Greenway, Knox County, Tennessee, the daughter of Philip Smith (1789-1882) and Jennette McKinley Smith (1803-1887). Samuel Shannon McCampbell and Sarah Prudence Smith were married in 1868 in Knox County, Tennessee. They had seven children, 1870-1886. Descendants lived in Tennessee and elsewhere.
