Jacob Landes/Landers/Landis was born in Pennsylvania. He and his wife, Fanny, had sixteen children, 1776-1809. He died in Hardy County, West Virginia, ca. 1811. His widow, Fanny, was living in Wayne County, Indiana, in 1826. His son, Daniel Landes, was born in 1797 in Virginia. He married Catherine Wooden, daughter of Jonathan and Catherine Waggy Wooden, in Rockingham County, Virginia, in 1817. They had ten children, 1818-1842. The family migrated Indiana, ca. 1819. Catherine was killed in an accident there ca. 1865. Daniel migrated to Missouri in 1871. Descendants listed lived in Missouri, Illinois, and elsewhere. Descendants spell their name Landes and Landis.
