This book gives the ancestry of four families. The first family belongs to Hans Jacob Öhler (Aylor). He was born in 1688 to Michael and Anna Maria (Stengel) Öhler in Botenheim, Württemberg, Germany. In 1712 he married Anna Magdalena Schneider, daughter of Heinrich Schneider. Jacob and his family joined his father-in-law in Virginia in 1720. The second immigrant family is that of Jacob Manspeil. There was not enough information to trace his ancestry but does give some information about his life in America. The third family is the family of Matthias Gessler (Castler) who was married in 1711 to Susanna Christina Schnell. He and his family immigrated ca. 1717. The last family is the one for Johann Dieterich Reiner. He was born in 1690 to Friedrich Dieterich and Anna Barbara Reiner in Schwaigern, Germany. In 1715 he married Maria Margaretha Schleicher. They came to America ca. 1749 and went to Culpeper County, Virginia.

The Germanna colony was located in Spotsylvania County but may also have been in part of Orange County, Virginia.
