A history of Beckwith families England and the United States. Ancestors of some of the Beckwith families in America include: George Beckwith (1606?-1676) of Fetherstone Castle, Yorkshire, England, and Calvert County, Maryland -- Sir Marmaduke Beckwith (1687-ca. 1748) of Aldborough, Yorkshire, England, and Richmond County, Virginia -- Mathew Beckwith (ca. 1610-1681) of of Ponteferact, Yorkshire, England; Massachusetts and Connecticut -- William Beckwith (bapt. 1571) of Fetherstone, Yorkshire; London, England, and Virginia. Beckwiths lived in Maryland, Virginia, Connecticut, New York, West Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois, Ohio, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and elsewhere. Record chiefly follows male lines.
