Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Ligon families who originally came from Normandy to England ca. 1066. The founder of the Ligon family in the New World was probably Colonel Thomas Ligon, the son of Thomas Ligon and Frances Dennis. color Thomas left the ancestral home Madresfield Court in England, and settled in Jamestown, Virginia ca. 1641, and married Mary Harris (born 1649). Other Lygon (and other variant spellings) progenitors also came in the 1600's and settled in Barbados and Virginia. Some progenitors were African Americans, Armenians, Englishmen, Italians, and Jews who took on the Ligon surname. In the 1700-1800's, some migrated into Australia, Alabama, Louisiana, Maryland, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Later descendants and relatives also lived in Canada, England, and in Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Washington D.C, West Virginia, and elsewhere.

Also includes Leajin, Leagon, Legin, Ligean, Liggan, Ligget, Liggin, Liggon, Ligon, Lyggon, Lygon, and other variant spellings.

Also includes Addington, Andrews, Bassett, Beauchamps, ,Bedford, Berkeley, Carr, Cole, Coleman, Corbin (Corbyn), Davis, Dennis, Egioke, Gorges, Grevile. Hankins, Hoover, Jarman, Jennings, Johnson, Norwood, Pynder, Russell, Savage, Sheldon, Strange, Talbot, Throckmorton, and other related families. .

Frequency varies: vol. 1 published in 1937; vol. 2 published in 1939; and vol. 3 published in 1960.
