The commonly accepted tradition is that they came from Lancastershire, Eng...Thomas Stanley, Sr., and his sons, purchased land in the part of New Kent Co. that was erected into Hanover Co., Nov. 1720. Also includes descendancy information the Crew family of Henrico County, Virginia, some of whom married into the Stanley family. "...John Crew... was probably the one who came to Northampton County, Virginia in 1694. He belonged to the Curles Meeting which was in Henrico County."--p. 29. Descendants lived in Virginia, Indiana, Missouri, Iowa and elsewhere. .
