John Darden died in 1810 at Isle of Wight County, Virginia. He left behind his wife Mary (Molly) and six children: Thomas, Charles, Betsey, Ann, Polly and Patsey. The book follows the descendants of Charles Darden who was born around 1773. The descendants seemed to have stayed in Virginia.

Miles Lassiter was born ca. 1805 and his wife Mourning was born ca. 1802. They lived in Nansemond County, Virginia, where they had five children. The book follows their son William J. and his descendants who seemed to have stayed in Virginia.

Nansemond County became part of the independent city of Suffolk in 1974.

Contains genealogies, pedigree charts, and copies of documentation, such as wills, census records, deeds, marriage records, court records, correspondence, etc.
