Newsletter for the interchange of genealogical data and history of the Childress (and variant spellings) families who mainly came from England (especially Yorkshire) and Scotland. Many immigrated to America in the 1600-1700s. Some focus is on (but not limited to) descendants of the Englishman Ralph Childers, who lived from ca. 1545-1592. Some of his descendants immigrated to Henrico, Virginia ca. 1660. Other Childers families moved in the 1700s to Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. It was during this period that some families began spelling their surname "Childress" and other variant spellings. Some married into the Cherokee Nation. Some lived in Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Texas, and West Virginia during the 1800s. Some later descendants also lived in Arizona, California, Illinois, Kansas, Massachusetts, Mississippi, Ohio, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, and elsewhere.
