Northampton County was known as Accawmack before 1642.

Several records types (orders, wills, deeds) were put together in one numeric series since the volumes contained records from all three types. The records did not separate until. v. 18. Number preceding the volume's description is the designation given to the volume by the county clerk. This number is used in the general index and several published books. Because the general index only covers wills, it was decided to include here only the those books with wills. However, since other records types are included in those books, the films may be repeated with the deed records or the court order and minute books. Missing volumes in the series may also be found with these records.

Includes indexes. Most volumes are also individually indexed.
