Bryan Austad

Bryan Austad is a seasoned product leader with extensive experience in user experience, software development, and digital innovation. As Portfolio Director at FamilySearch, he leads product development for key initiatives, including FamilySearch Memories, Discovery experiences, the FamilySearch homepage, RootsTech, the Content Management System, and frontend development platforms. With over a decade at FamilySearch, Bryan has played a pivotal role in shaping digital tools that help individuals connect with their family history in meaningful ways.

Previously, Bryan held leadership roles at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he directed software development platforms, led engineering teams, and architected large-scale technology solutions. Earlier in his career, he worked in software engineering and product development at Intermountain Healthcare and Engenuity Tech, gaining deep technical expertise in J2EE architecture, data-driven decision support, and software infrastructure.

A graduate of Weber State University with a degree in Information Systems and Technology, Bryan has built a career at the intersection of technology, user experience, and storytelling. Passionate about fostering intergenerational connections, he continues to drive innovation in digital experiences that strengthen families and communities.
