President, My Latino Roots Search
Ada Luque NelsonAda Luque Nelson is a professional genealogist specializing in Latin America. She frequently presents at Hispanic genealogy conferences such as We Are Cousins and RootsTech and also teaches FamilySearch seminars and BYU Family History seminars. Ada is a retired engineer with a background in informatics and user experience (UX).
For the past 30 years she has been researching her Latin American roots in Panama (her native land), Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador and Peru, as well as Mexico and the Hispanic Caribbean. She has also extensively researched the genealogical resources of indigenous, Sephardic, Basque, French, Italian, Chinese, and African slaves in Latin America.
Ada is the president and founder of a non-profit company called My Latino Roots Search (MLRS). The mission of MLRS is to support other genealogical societies with their Ibero-American content, such as FamilySearch, the Hispanic Heritage Project (HHP), The Family History Guide (TFHG), the Genealogical Society of Hispanic America (GSHA), and others. MLRS also develops research tools and provides online genealogy resources for other Latino researchers. Ada lives in Salt Lake City, Utah.
