Sea to Shining Sea: How to Research in Every U.S. State
US record-keeping was largely left to state and local governments. As a result, your ability to find and access records of your ancestors is dependent on the place they lived. Navigating the social history and record policies of all those individual states can be daunting.
The video session will give you the ability to start your state-focused research—wherever it may lead. You'll learn what questions to ask yourself when studying a new-to-you US state, with an overview of settlement patterns and important genealogy records.
Subsections cover some common themes in different regions: New England, the Mid-Atlantic, the South, the Midwest, the Pacific Coast, and so on.
