Due to the passing of President Jeffrey R. Holland and the desire for many of our staff to attend the funeral services, the FamilySearch Library will have reduced operational hours on December 31, 2025. The Library will be open from 1pm to 5pm. Thank you for your understanding. We look forward to resuming our full hours and services on Friday, January 2nd at 9am.
FamilySearch Library Catalogs
The Library currently has two catalogs
The New Library Catalog
The new FamilySearch Library Catalog lists physical items available at the Library, as well as links to items in the FamilySearch Digital Library. When looking for books it's best to use this catalog.

The Existing FamilySearch.org Catalog

The existing FamilySearch.org Catalog gives you access to the vast collection of digital microfilm, microfiche, books, maps, pedigree charts, and databases on the FamilySearch website and in the Library. When looking for digital microfilm, it's best to use this catalog.
Which Catalog Should I Use?
Which Catalog Should I Use?
Looking for a book? Either catalog can be searched, however it's best to use the new Library Catalog if you are visiting the FamilySearch Library in person. Looking for a microfilm or microfiche? Either catalog can be searched, however it's best to use the existing FamilySearch.org Catalog because it includes access to many of the microfilms and microfiche physically located in either the FamilySearch Library or the FamilySearch Archives, along with links to their digital images, if accessible digitally.
We enable inspiring journeys that bring joy to all people as they discover, gather, and connect their family—past, present, and future.
