The first of a three-part series, this lesson will introduce you to South African research. The class will first discuss historical events that affected South African research, then talk about the major record types that can assist you in finding your South African ancestors. Finally, the lesson will discuss naming patterns and peculiarities to researching in South Africa.

South Africa FamilySearch Collections Online

The third of a three-part series, this lesson will introduce to the FamilySearch online collections for South Africa. The class will discuss the types of records available, various ways on how to access the records, and how to use the collections. There will be a short quiz/activity at the end of the lesson pause the recording when the question is read, work to answer the question asked, and then resume the recording for the answer. The handout includes the activity questions.
