How do I find temple ordinance notifications?

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints receive a message through FamilySearch's messaging system on the following occasions:

  • When an ordinance that you reserved was completed and recorded at the temple.
    • You receive these notifications when ordinances on your reservation list are completed.
    • The notifications indicate that ordinances were recorded. Go to your completed ordinances list for details.
    • The notifications expire after 7 days then are automatically removed from your FamilySearch notifications.
  • When a reservation on your list is almost ready to expire.
  • When a reservation on your list expires.

Steps (website)

  1. Sign in to FamilySearch.org
  2. In the top-right portion of the screen, click
  3. Click the notification tab labeled Temple. (Note: A Temple button is at the top of the screen, which is different from the Temple notification tab).
  4. Click the message that you want to see.
  5. Click View List. Your completed ordinances list opens so that you can see and print the details.
  6. (Optional): To email temple messages to yourself, follow these steps:
    1. Click the checkbox of the message that you want to email.
    2. Click Email
    3. On the message box, click Yes.

Steps (mobile app)

  1. Open the Family Tree mobile app.
  2. Open the menu screen.
    • Apple: In the bottom-right corner of the screen, tap the 3 lines.
    • Android: In the top-left corner of the screen, tap the 3 lines.
  3. Tap Notifications.
  4. At the top, find and tap Temple.

Steps (Family Tree Lite)

Family Tree Lite does not include FamilySearch Messaging. Please use the FamilySearch.org website or the Family Tree app instead.
