Dr. Robyn Fivush
Robyn Fivush is the Samuel Candler Dobbs Professor of Psychology at Emory University, where she has been on the faculty since 1984. She received her PhD from the Graduate Center of The City University of New York in 1983 and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California at San Diego from 1983 to 1984. She is a Fellow of both the American Psychological Society (APS) and the American Psychological Association (APA).Her research focuses on the social construction of autobiographical memory and the relations among memory, narrative, identity, trauma, and coping. She has published over 150 articles and book chapters, co-edited 7 books, and authored 2 books, including her most recent book, “Family Narratives and the Development of an Autobiographical Self.” She also writes a blog for Psychology Today on The Stories of Our Lives.
Dr. Jody Koenig Kellas
Dr. Jody Koenig Kellas is Willa Cather Professor and department chair in the Department of Communication Studies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She teaches and conducts research on interpersonal, family, and health communication. The goal of her research program is to study the ways in which narratives and storytelling can be translated to help individuals and families understand, negotiate, and improve communication, coping, and individual, relational, and interactional well-being. She is the author of communicated narrative sense-making theory (Koenig Kellas, 2022, 2018) and founder of Narrative Nebraska, a research lab focused on investigating and applying the ways in which narratives and storytelling can improve the communication and lives of participants. The majority of her research focuses on family storytelling. Her recent work provides empirical evidence for the mental and relational health benefits of a theoretically grounded translational storytelling intervention called Narrative Parenting which helps parents make sense of and – in the process build community and connection with other parents around – the difficulties and joys of parenting. She has received many awards for her scholarship and teaching, including the Bernard J. Brommel Award for Outstanding Scholarship or Distinguished Service in Family Communication and the Kathleen Galvin Outstanding Teaching and Mentoring Award from the National Communication and the University of Nebraska’s Outstanding Teaching and Instructional Creativity Award (OTICA). She earned her undergraduate degree in Communication at Northwestern University and her MA and PhD in Communication at the University of Washington.

Jesse Brackenbury
Jesse Brackenbury joined The Statue of Liberty-Ellis Island Foundation in May 2021. Prior to the Foundation, Jesse led the Rose Kennedy Greenway Conservancy in Boston, where he helped realize the vision of The Greenway as the epicenter of downtown Boston.Jesse's experience also includes working for the Boston Consulting Group on strategy, real estate, and other projects, as well as leadership roles at the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation and the United Nations World Food Programme in Italy.Jesse serves on the Board of the City Parks Alliance, a national non-profit that advocates for urban green spaces. He holds an MBA from the University of California-Berkeley and a BA from Williams College.
