Researching English Industrial Labourers
This session shows how you can discover more about your English ancestors whose working lives changed as a result of industrialisation from the end of the eighteenth century onwards. Whether they found employment above ground in one of the various factories, underground mining the coal to fuel the fires, or transported goods around the country on the emerging transport networks, it’s possible to find out more about their working conditions, lifestyles, and battles for pay and representation. It’s written for beginners, though intermediate researchers may also benefit.
