Introducing My China Roots: A Genealogy Platform for Tracing Chinese Ancestors

This presentation will be of interest to individuals of Chinese heritage, professional genealogists, and genealogy librarians who wish to learn about resources for Chinese ancestry research. Tracing Chinese ancestors presents unique challenges: researchers must be prepared to go beyond traditional genealogy sources, sometimes in a language they may not understand. Since 2019, My China Roots has been digitizing and linking genealogical materials for Chinese communities around the world. In this talk, Clotilde will explain how the database was designed to overcome the unique challenges in Chinese genealogy, and will provide a live demo of the platform.
