      ICARUS – Cooperation across borders

ICARUS is a non-profit association consisting of more than 180 institutional members from over 30 European states, Canada and The United States. The ICARUS consortium supports archives and related institutions to cope with the challenges of the digital era. Based on the principle of complementarity, the new tasks and challenges resulting from the advancing digital technologies can be faced together as a community.

During the session, participants can have a thorough overview about the activities that ICARUS is helping with, including:

      • cross-link people and institutions – internationally and interdisciplinary, independent of origin, resources and financial capabilities
      • offer a platform for developing and delivering international projects
      • offer various services in order to make archival material accessible online, compliant with international standards
      • operate portals such as Monasterium, Matricula or Topotheque
      • enable innovative steps into the future by a reliable exchange of ideas and visions
