Navigating Holocaust Resources Online

In this presentation we will look at the various resources available online for tracing Holocaust victims, survivors, and displaced persons. Learn how to navigate and piece together the records available from a myriad of sources including Yad Vashem, the JDC, the Arolsen Archives, USHMM, and smaller, regional repositories. We will also look at databases that include records related to concentration camps, and ongoing efforts to document victims in towns and cities. To learn more about Holocaust records, participants can use the resources under Additional Experiences.

I Found Descendants of the Man Who Saved My Father from the Nazis

Lionel Rossler, 55, of Rebecq, Belgium, tried for years to find the family that hid his father and grandmother and saved their lives during the Holocaust. When he took to social media to ask for help, MyHeritage’s Marie Cappart responded — and thanks to her research, Lionel and his father, David, were able to meet the descendants of David’s rescuer in the very place where he hid them so many years ago.
