Where is indexing found on FamilySearch?

In March of 2022, the Indexing tab on the FamilySearch homepage was replaced by Get Involved, a new site for accessing volunteer opportunities at FamilySearch, including indexing and reviewing names.

To go to FamilySearch indexing:

  1. Click the tab titled Get Involved.
  2. Click Indexing.

You can also access indexing through the page titled My Opportunities:

  1. Click the tab titled Get Involved.
  2. Click My Opportunities.
  3. Scroll to the section titled Opportunities and click either Find Projects or My Indexing.

Note: Any indexing bookmarks that you created before Get Involved should still function.

How is Get Involved different than indexing?

Get Involved is not a replacement for indexing. It is a FamilySearch webpage where you can access indexing, review names that were indexed by a computer, and participate in other volunteer activities.

When you review names that were indexed by a computer, you compare the image of the record with the name that the computer indexed. You check that the computer spelled the name correctly and make any necessary corrections.
