Where do I find FamilySearch notifications?

FamilySearch Notifications are brief messages from FamilySearch about activities, opportunities, and updates. You can access them through the notification icon at the top of the screen, near your name.

Steps (website)

  1. Sign in to FamilySearch.org
  2. In the top-right, click the bell icon.
  3. The FamilySearch Notifications preview appears. You can scroll through the messages as they appear inside the preview. Click the notification that you would like to read.
  4. To go to FamilySearch Notification's inbox, click SHOW ALL NOTIFICATIONS.
  5. On the left, you see a list of notifications. Click the notification that you would like to read. The notification message appears to the right of the column.
  6. To delete one of the notifications, click the small box next to the notification.
    1. The delete icon appears at the top of the column.
    2. Click the delete icon.

Steps (mobile app)

  1. Open the Family Tree mobile app.
  2. Open the menu screen.
    • iOS: in the lower right, tap the 3 lines.
    • Android: in the upper right tap the 3 lines.
  3. Tap Messages.
  4. Tap the appropriate notification category.
  5. Tap the specific notification that you would like to read.
  6. To delete a notification, in the top-right, tap the 3 dots. Tap Delete Conversation.

Steps (Family Tree Lite)

Unfortunately, Family Tree Lite does not offer Notifications. Please use the FamilySearch.org website or the Family Tree app instead.
