In order to ensure that temple work for ancestors is completed promptly, ordinance reservations expire after a certain amount of time. You can see the expiration dates by viewing your family names list on the FamilySearch website and in the Family Tree mobile app.
Three weeks before reservations expire, you will receive a reminder through the FamilySearch messaging system. If you also want to receive an email notification, turn on the Messages option in your notification preferences.
Steps (website)
- While signed in to FamilySearch, click Temple.
- From the drop-down menu, click My Reservations.
- The column on the right is labeled Date. Look here for the expiration date.
- (Optional) To sort your family names list by expiration date, do the following:
- Click the button labeled Filter.
- In the section labeled Sort, click either Date Reserved or Date Expires.
- To reverse the chronological order of your list, click either Ascending or Descending.
Steps (mobile app)
- In the Family Tree mobile app, open the Temple page.
- Android: In the top left corner, tap the 3 lines, and then tap Temple.
- Apple iOS: Tap Temple along the bottom of your screen.
- Look at each name. The expiration date appears near the reservation date. If the expiration date is not shown, it is 2 years from the reservation date.
