How do I search all Chinese record collections, not just the jiapu?

FamilySearch has a large collection of Chinese jiapu and other records from China. You can find the Chinese records using our Explore Images feature.

Steps (website)

  1. While signed in on FamilySearch.org, click Search
  2. Click Images.
  3. In the Places field, enter China or the specific place in China. As you type, standardized places show below the search field. Click the best standardized place.
  4. Click Search
    1. If you see a box asking if you want to try the Chinese jiapu Search, click No.
    2. If you see the jiapu collection, on the right-side panel, click Advanced Search.
  5. At the top of the right-side panel, click All Record Types.
  6. Use the search fields to refine your search. At the bottom of the panel, you can click Show Advanced Search and add more search terms.
  7. Click Update.
