How do I resend a verification code to my mobile phone number?

Share

If you live in the U.S., Canada, or Brazil, you can use your mobile phone number to activate your FamilySearch account. You will receive a text message with a 6-digit verification code that can be entered in your FamilySearch account settings. If you do not receive the code, check that your phone number is correct and then request a new code.

Steps to check your mobile phone number

  1. Sign in to FamilySearch.
  2. In the upper right corner, click your name, then Settings.
  3. Click the Account tab at the top.
  4. Check that the mobile phone number is correct. If it is incorrect, click Edit, and make the needed changes.
  5. Click Save.

Steps to resend a verification code

If your mobile phone number is correct, you can resend a new verification code. The code is valid for 20 minutes from the time it is sent.

If you are able to sign in to your account on FamilySearch:

  1. Sign in to FamilySearch.
  2. In the upper right corner, click your name, then click Settings.
  3. Click the Account tab at the top.
  4. Next to your recovery mobile phone number, click Verify.
  5. A pop-up appears that says "Check Text Messages." When you receive the new code on your phone, enter the new verification code here.
    • If you need the code sent again, click Resend Code.
  6. Click Verify.

If you are unable to sign in to your account on FamilySearch:

  1. Contact FamilySearch Support.
    • FamilySearch Support verifies the information that you used to create your FamilySearch account.
    • FamilySearch Support then resends a 6-digit verification code to activate your FamilySearch account.
  2. Go to verify.fs.org.
  3. Enter the 6-digit verification code into the verification code field on the screen.
  4. Click Save.
