Overview of Family Name Assist

Step 1: Invite
Invite the member to come prepared with a name in mind of a deceased family member to serve in the temple. Alternatively, FamilySearch can help them find a name.
Step 2: Enter and Print
Easily and quickly enter the name into Family Name Assist or have FamilySearch find the names for you. Then print the card.
Step 3: Enable
Help members attend the temple and access their FamilySearch account so they can continue to prepare names.
How to Access the Family Name Assist Tool
- Bishops and Branch Presidents: When in the Leader and Clerk Resources (LCR) program, bishopric members or branch presidents with temple recommend stewardship can find the Family Name Assist tool under the Membership menu and Temple Recommends menu, as part of the proxy baptism recommend process.
- Ward council members: The Family Name Assist tool is found under the Leader and Clerk Resources Temple menu, under Help Member Print a Family Name.
- Temple and Family History Consultants: Consultants can access the Family Name Assist tool here.
- Members: New members, youth, or unendowed adults can access Family Name Assist here.
