How do I show that duplicates are not a match in Family Tree?

Share

When someone indicates that 2 records are not a match, Family Tree no longer suggests them as possible duplicates.

Steps (website)

  1. Sign in to FamilySearch, and then click Family Tree.
  2. Click Tree.
  3. If needed, switch to your private tree or the family group tree where both duplicates are located.
  4. Navigate to the profile of one of the duplicates.
  5. In the Research Help section on the right side, click Show All.
  6. Click Possible Duplicate.
    • If you are sure that the record is about someone else, click Not a Match.
    • To compare the possible duplicates in more detail, click Review Merge, and compare the records. If you then decide that the records are not a match, click Not a Match.
  7. Enter a reason why the records are not a match.
  8. Click Save

Steps (mobile app)

  1. Open the Family Tree mobile app.
  2. If needed, switch to your private tree or the family group tree where both duplicates are located.
  3. Navigate to the profile of one of the duplicates.
  4. In the top-right portion of the screen, tap the 3 dots.
  5. Tap Possible Duplicates.
  6. Under the specific duplicate, tap Not a Match.
  7. Explain why, and tap Not a Match. If you are not sure, tap Cancel or the return arrow.
  8. The duplicate now appears in the Not a Match tab.
