How do I remove a possible duplicate from the Not a Match list in Family Tree?

If you or another user incorrectly marked a possible duplicate as "not a match," you can easily restore it.

Steps (website)

  1. While signed into FamilySearch, click Family Tree.
  2. Click the person's name.
  3. In the details that pop up, click the person's name again.
  4. If you do not see Vitals near the top of the page, near the top left, click Details.
  5. Scroll down to the Tools section on the right.
  6. Click Possible Duplicates.
  7. Click Dismissed Helps.
  8. Next to the specific duplicate, click May Be a Match.
  9. Click OK.
  10. The duplicate will now appear in the Possible Duplicates tab for review.

Steps (mobile app)

This feature is currently not available for the Android. Here are the steps for the Apple iOS.

  1. In the Family Tree mobile app, tap Tree.
  2. Tap the individual.
  3. In the top right corner of the screen, tap the three dots.
  4. Tap More, and then tap Recent Changes.
  5. Scroll to the specific Not a Match change, and tap the green Restore box.
  6. The duplicate will now appear in the Possible Duplicates section for review.

Steps (Family Tree Lite)

Right now, Family Tree Lite allows you to view the Possible Duplicates list but does not have a feature for resolving them.
