The Latest Changes feature allows you to review all of the changes users make to an ancestor’s profile in Family Tree. You can reverse the change, contact the person who made a change, and use the Merge Analysis tool.
We suggest that you contact the other user since—like you—he or she likely feels a strong attachment to the ancestor. Perhaps you can work together to achieve a fuller, richer account of your ancestor's life.
Steps (website)
- Sign in to FamilySearch, and then click Family Tree.
- Click Tree.
- Find the person whose changes that you want to look at.
- Click the person's name. In the details that pop up, click the person's name again.
- Click the Details tab.
- On the right, find Latest Changes, and click Show All.
- To see changes for a specific relationship, scroll to the relationship in the Family Member section, click the Edit icon. Scroll and click See All Changes.
- By default, most recent changes display first. To filter this list to a specific type of information, click Filter. (Filters are not available for relationship changes). Click the information that you want to look at.
- Tip: To evaluate the results of a merge, click Filter, then Merges. The list narrows to just merges. Find the merge in question, and click Merge Analysis to see the profiles as they existed before and after the merge. You can then decide whether to undo the merge.
- If the word Restore appears as a blue link on the far right, you can undo a change:
- Click Restore.
- On the pop-up, review the information.
- Click Restore.
- If the word "Reference" appears on the far right, more details are available:
- Click Reference.
- Look for a Restore option.
- To contact the FamilySearch user who made the change, below the date of the change, click the contact ID. Then click Message.
Steps (mobile app)
- Open the Family Tree app and navigate to the ancestor.
- In the top-right portion of the screen, tap the 3 dots.
- From the menu that appears, on an Android device, tap Recent Changes. On an Apple iOS device, tap More, then tap Recent Changes.
- You see a list of changes. If you can reverse a change, you see a Restore button. If you want to communicate with the person who made the change, below the date of the change, tap the contact name. Then tap Chat.
