You can delete vital information from an individual's profile, even if you are not the original contributor.
You cannot delete some information:
- Name
- Sex
- Death information (unless you first change the status of the person to Living)
Steps (website)
- Sign in to FamilySearch, click Family Tree, and then click Tree.
- Find the person that you want to edit.
- Click the person's name. In the details that pop up, click the person's name again.
- Click the Details tab.
- Under Vitals, find the information that you want to delete.
- Click the Edit icon.
- Review the current information and any reason statements.
- On the left side of the edit box, click Delete. If the box lacks a Delete option, you can only edit the information.
- Explain why you made a change.
- Click Delete.
Steps (mobile app)
- In the Family Tree mobile app, navigate to the Person page that you want to edit.
- Tap the Details tab.
- Under Vitals, tap the information you want to delete.
- Review the current information and any reason statements.
- Tap Delete. If you do not see the Delete option, you can only edit the information.
- Explain why you made a change.
- Tap Delete.
Steps (Family Tree Lite)
- Sign in to Family Tree Lite.
- Navigate to the Person page of the individual whose information that you want to edit.
- Under Vital Information, tap the information you want to delete.
- Review the current information and any reason statements.
- Tap Delete. If you do not see the Delete option, you can only edit the information.
