How do I log out of FamilySearch?

You should sign out of the FamilySearch website, the FamilySearch mobile apps, and Family Tree Lite if other people use the same computer, phone, or tablet as you. This protects the data about your living relatives and prevents others from making unauthorized or unintentional changes using your account.

Option to remain signed in

In the mobile apps, your sign-in remains for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, the system signs you out. You need to enter your password again before the application can communicate with FamilySearch to download or upload updates.

Multiple people using the same mobile device

If another user signs in to one of the mobile apps on the same device that you use, your stored data leaves your device and is replaced with the other user's data.

The information is not lost since it is still available on FamilySearch. When you sign in again, the app reloads your data.

When you change your account password

When you change your account password, you should sign out and enter the new password as soon as possible, or the system can lock the account for a time. You cannot access any FamilySearch products with a locked account.
