You can change a photo to a document or a document to a photo after you upload and save them in Memories in these file formats: jpg, tif, png, and bmp.
- Photos and documents use the same viewer when saved in these file formats: jpg, tif, png, and bmp.
- Changing a photo to a document or a document to a photo does not affect links, titles, or descriptions.
- Documents can be used as a portrait photo once they are changed to a photo.
- Tags appear as a square or rectangle.
Documents uploaded and saved in the pdf file format use the PDF viewer.
- Documents in the PDF file format contain text and multiple pages, including images.
- PDF documents cannot be changed to photos nor attached to a story.
Steps (website)
- Sign in to FamilySearch and click Memories.
- Click Gallery.
- Click the item.
- At the top, between the title and the image, click Actions.
- Click Change to Photo or Change to Document.
Steps (mobile app)
- In the Memories or Family Tree mobile app, tap the item you want to change.
- Tap in the image so you see options above it.
- In the top-right corner, tap the 3 dots.
- Tap Details.
- Under Image Type, tap either Photo or Document.
- Tap Save.
Steps (Family Tree Lite)
Currently, the Memories feature is not available in Family Tree Lite.
