How do I add an image to the story I created?

You can attach images to stories in the Memories Gallery. 

  • A photo can be attached to more than one story.
  • Document images can also be added to stories.
  • Up to 10 images can be uploaded to each story.

You can also attach a private photo to a public story. Other FamilySearch users see the story, not the photo.

Steps (website)

  1. Sign in to FamilySearch.
  2. At the top of the page, click Memories.
  3. Click Gallery.
  4. Click the Stories icon (looks like an open book).
  5. Click a story to which you want to add an image.
  6. Above the story title, click Edit.
  7. Above and to the left of the story text, click Add Image.
  8. Find up to 10 images in your gallery that you want to add to the story. 
  9. In the upper right of each image you want to add, click the check mark.
  10. In the bottom right, click Import. (Or, if you change your mind about adding the photo, click Cancel.)

Steps (mobile apps)

You can add an image to a story through the Family Tree or the Memories app. On an Android device, use the Memories app. You can add up to 10 images to a story.

Family Tree app

  1. Navigate to the person with the story.
  2. Tap the Memories tab.
  3. Above the memory items, tap the icon that looks like lined paper with the letter A.
  4. Tap a story. On an Android device, in the upper right, tap the 3 dots and then tap Edit.
  5. Above the story, tap the camera icon.
  6. Tap an item in the Add From list:
    1. Tap Take Photo or Camera and take a photo with your device.
    2. Choose from your camera roll. Tap each item that you want to add.
    3. Tap File or My Files and choose an item. Locate the desired file on your device. Tap each item that you want to add.
    4. Choose a photo in your FamilySearch Gallery. In the gallery, tap each item you want to add.

Memories App

  1. Above the memory items, tap the icon that looks like lined paper with the letter A.
  2. Tap a story. On an Android device, in the upper right, tap the 3 dots and then tap Edit.
  3. Above the story, tap the camera icon.

  4. Tap an item in the Add From or Select From list:

    1. Tap Take Photo or Camera and take a photo with your device.
