Introduction

FamilySearch photographically captures images of archival records. The purpose of capturing archival records is to provide a means for guests to sort and organize the millions of records in the FamilySearch collection for family history research purposes. The images and the data are made available to those seeking information about their ancestors on the FamilySearch website. This training manual will be used frequently during your training and will be a good resource for you in your work efforts. The manual provides instruction on the following subjects:

  • Setting up
  • Projects, listings, and folders
  • Calibration
  • Creating templates
  • Capturing images
  • Transporting images

Along with this training manual, you will be provided training videos that provide a visual demonstration of how to use the tools and processes needed to be successful. Depending on your area needs, you may be required to attend additional training sessions with a trainer. Your trainer, supervisor, or manager will assist you with answers to questions not addressed in the training manual. Your efforts will directly benefit FamilySearch guests as they discover, gather, and connect their families—past, present, and future.
