If you have a family group tree, you can choose whether your private tree (FamilySearch Tree) or a family group tree is your preferred tree.
Your preferred tree opens by default when you use Family Tree and is used to calculate relationships.
Unless you change it, FamilySearch Tree (your private tree) is your preferred tree.
Steps (website)
- In Family Tree, switch to the correct tree:
- If your private tree is your preferred tree, switch to the family group tree that you want to use.
- If a family group tree is your preferred tree and you want to use your private tree instead, switch to the tree that is currently set as your preferred tree.
- If a family group tree is your preferred tree and you want to use a different family group tree, switch to the family group tree that you want to use.
- In the upper-left, click Tree Details.
- Click Set as Preferred Tree.
- If you turn the option off, you are notified that the FamilySearch Tree will be used as your private tree. Click Continue.
Steps (mobile)
