Can I allow other people to use my username and password?

Please do not share your FamilySearch username and password with other people. When you registered to use FamilySearch, you agreed to keep this information confidential as part of the terms of use.

Instead of giving someone else your username and password, please consider the following options instead:

  • Helping that person create his or her own FamilySearch account.
  • Using the Planner in Helper Resources to help another patron--or allowing someone else to use the Planner to help you.

Note: The Planner is a tool that enables one patron to access Family Tree from another patron's point of view.  It can only be used by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
