Using the BillionGraves Home Page

If you haven’t already tried it, then go to BillionGraves.com and take a look at their home page. It’s so easy to use and so self explanatory that you’ll be surprised at how quickly you’ll feel comfortable using it.

Along the top of the page you will see a simple overview of the process of collecting, transcribing and saving gravestone images. Next to this is large easy to navigate link to a short one minute video overviewing what BillionGraves is all about.

Below that you will find 3 separate sections. The first section is titled Headstone Search.  The title says it all. From this section you can begin your own search to find the gravestone of anyone you are looking for. The search fields are easy to fill out, asking for given names, family names, birth year and death year. You don’t even need to know all of that information to do a search. I did a search using only a family surname and was able to find the gravestone I was looking for. For more common names I would advise adding more information to slim down your search results.

The second section is titled News Feed. This section provides you with an daily updates of new additions to the collection. As I looked at the updates I noticed that images were coming in from Canada, England, Czech Republic and other remote parts of the world. However, the majority of the feeds were from the United States. This shows that BillionGraves is most firmly established in the United States but is already establishing itself internationally.

The third and last section is titled Register Today. In this section you can register to begin using the BillionGraves site to upload gravestone images and extract the information yourself.

Go ahead and visit the BillionGraves website. See for yourself how easy it is to use this site. I think you will agree that this is a very useful site and quite easy to use.
